Carrie & Austin's History
From 1985 - 1991, John Black was known as / believed to be Roman Brady. He will be referred to during that time period as RoJohn.
Caroline Anna Brady "Carrie" was born to Roman Brady and Anna Fredericks Brady March 3, 1974 (Her birthday has also been celebrated on March 4 and March 6). Anna had been held on a slave ship and Roman thought she was dead, so Roman Brady didn't even know about Carrie until she was about 6 years old. At that time he was in love with Dr.Marlena Evans Craig. After Roman and Marlena married, they raised her with their own two children Samantha Gene (Jean) Brady "Sami" and Eric Roman Brady "Eric" who were born October 16, 1984. Also helping in Carrie's raising was her mother Anna Fredericks and her new husband Tony DiMera (who at the time was good). Carrie was still pretty young when Roman Brady fell of the cliff and "died" thanks to Stephano in 1984. Carrie was wary of John Black from the first time she met him. She was not happy when Marlena told her that the man she knew as John Black was actually her father Roman Brady which was discovered on March 16, 1986. Eventually Carrie accepted John as Roman and she acted as a bridesmaid when he and Marlena were married. After Marlena "died" in a plane crash on April 23, 1987, Carrie, Sami and Eric were raised first by RoJohn and Diana Colville. During this time Carrie had teenage crushes on Julio and Frankie. She was chosen to be in a B movie about ghosts and vampires, which turned out bad after Carrie was arrested for cocaine possession after innocently having freebasing equipment in her possession. After Diana also left, Carrie went to Europe to be with her mother on January 18, 1991 and the twins were raised by RoJohn and Isabella Toscano.
Marlena And Roman Return From The Dead
On August 16, 1991, the same night John got engaged to Isabella, Marlena suddenly turned up alive! Soon it was discovered that Roman Brady was also alive, and that John Black was only John Black. John stepped away and let Roman and Marlena raise their children together. The twins bonded with them.
One Stormy Night
Carrie Brady returned to Salem in 1991 on a stormy night and was first seen by John Black, the man she had believed to be her father. It took Carrie time to accept that it was not John's fault that he believed he was Roman, but Stephano DiMera's. After awhile, she openly embraced both John Black and her real father Roman Brady. However, Carrie stayed close to John and Isabella, and always thought of their son Brady Victor Black as another brother. Carrie fell in lust with Lawerence Alamain, whom was using her to get information about John and Isabella. Carrie was there when it was revealed that John Black was actually Forrest Alamain. In the meantime she got her own apartment and for a short time had a new friend named Jesse Lombard. Jesse had a crush on Carrie, but Carrie was interested in someone else.
Austin Reed
Carrie had an annoying neighbor who played the piano way too much. She was working at a trendy clothing store, Ballistix, at newly-opened Salem Place Mall when her attention was drawn to a very hunky customer who tried on a T-shirt right in the middle of the store! He turned out to be her noisy neighbor, Austin Reed. Carrie was immediately infatuated with him. They began to see one another and form a friendship.
While Carrie was busy ogling over Austin, she and Jesse began having problems paying their bills. Eventually, Jesse stumbled upon a gambling ring and began betting on horse races in order to win money to pay the bills. Carrie also got caught up in the ring, unaware that the object of her affection, Austin, was one of the leaders of the illegal ring. Carrie began to get more deeply involved with the ring, to Austin's chagrin, and wound up dating Austin's partner, Tim Rollins. Though Carrie liked Austin much more, Tim made it possible for her to pay the bills. Plus, she wanted to make Austin jealous.
However, Carrie's tactics didn't work. Austin brushed off her relationship with Tim and remained only concerned for a certain woman he'd known in Boston, where he'd lived before coming to Salem. Carrie assumed it was a girlfriend. And when "she" finally arrived in Salem, Carrie became insanely jealous. As it turned out, "she" was Billie Reed, Austin's sister. Boy was Carrie's face red. Still, she came to the conclusion that Austin didn't care about her and continued to see Tim. She finally stopped after he took her to a rave busted by the police. Eventually, Austin got out of the bookie business and began boxing to make ends meet. At this time, he and Carrie finally saw eye-to-eye and began dating.
Austin and Carrie's romance grew. They had their first date at Wings. The two kissed for the first time and began to fall in love. Carrie eventually found out about the gambling ring and tried to help Austin go legit. She took $5,000 out of her college fund from John to pay off some of the people Austin owed. It was his finding out about all this that lead Roman Brady to deeply dislike Austin in the beginning. Roman even went as far as to forbid Carrie to see Austin, of course that didn't stop her. That Christmas, Austin found out that Carrie had lost one of the diamond earrings that John had given her as a graduation present; and Carrie found out that Austin needed a record player to play his records. So in a true "Gift Of The Magi" moment, Austin sold his records to buy Carrie a matching earring, and Carrie sold her one earring to pay for Austin's record player. Austin also played Carrie her favorite song on Christmas day. Carrie and Austin also went on a trip to Horton Cabin and almost ended up making love, but Carrie decided she wanted to wait. In the New Year, Sami, Carrie's baby sister, returned, and immediately became infatuated with a piano player at Wings, Austin Reed. What she didn't know was that he was her sister Carrie's boyfriend. Jesse and his father Roger left Salem. To compensate for Jesse's half of the rent, Carrie asked Billie to move in with her. Billie and Carrie got off to a rough start, but they became good friends over time.
Boston Austin
Austin was a boxer which didn't sit well with Carrie. They called him "Boston" Austin Reed. The honchos of the ring told him to throw prize fights in order to rake in lots of money. He did this for a while and kept it secret from Carrie, who thought all he needed was confidence. During a very important New Year's Boxing match, Carrie sat by the ring and encouraged Austin to win. He decided not to throw the fight and won...angering some very nasty people..
Night Sins
Carrie, however, was unaware of the danger. She was only gushing about her boyfriend and excited over an invitation to the upcoming inauguration party of Titan Publishing. Tiw important events happened that night!
First, the party, which also launched Bella Magazine, also announced the three finalists of The Face of the 90's contest, a much-talked about event which would place one of Salem's beauties on the cover of Bella. To Carrie's surprise, she was one of the finalists! Austin had secretly entered her into the contest. The night had turned out to be a success, and there was much promise, as Austin and Carrie were planning to go away together after the party. Carrie, who was still a virgin, was willing to make love for the first time with Austin. Oh but alas, this would not happen -- not yet, anyway. As the loving couple walked out of the Titan building, Gus Bartoli (Austin's boxing coach and the guy who was going to pay for Austin winning the New Year's fight) ran up to them hoping to splash a little sulfuric acid on Austin's "pretty boy" face. Unfortunately for Gus, Austin was playfully swinging Carrie around in his arms at the time, and the acid struck Carrie's face.
Second, Sami saw her mother Dr. Marlena Evans Brady and John Black making love on a conference table in the Titan boardroom. It was very traumatic for Sami as Marlena, at the time, was still married to Sami's father Roman Brady. This is why Sami hated her mother for so long and why she has all these other problems with men.
Sami's Bullimia
That night Sami also found out that Austin was Carrie's boyfriend, but was still determined to make him fall in love with her. She desperately tried to lose weight in order to be more attractive to Austin, but as a result of Austin and her mother's infidelity, she developed very dangerous behavior, she became bulimic. With her family's help, Sami overcame her bulimia. She schemed to get close to Austin by asking him to give her piano lessons, but was disappointed when that didn't lead anywhere.
The Scar
Carrie was left with a rather ghastly scar on her right cheek which made her feel unattractive and worthless. However, Austin assured her that he still loved her. Sadly, Roman was angered when he realized that the acid had been meant for Austin as a result of his involvement with the shady gambling ring. Roman arrested Austin and was ready to file charges against him, but Carrie interceded. She told her father to leave Austin alone; in exchange, she would stop seeing him. So all of a sudden, Carrie turned against Austin, blamed him for her disfigurement, and broke up with him. Meanwhile, Carrie tried to correct her scars with skin grafts. The first one didn't work, and Carrie felt worthless.
Sami Kidnaps Belle
Marlena found out she was pregnant. Marlena and John did a blood test to see if the baby was John's, but neither John or Marlena knew that Sami had seen them making love. Sami was protective of her father and decided no matter what the blood test showed, she was going to make sure that Roman would think the baby was his. After reading some books on hematology, she broke into the hospital computer room and changed the blood test results.. Soon Isabella Brady Black, whom we all now call Belle, was born and everyone believed her to be Roman's daughter. Desperate to keep her parents' marriage together, Sami came up with a plan. She kidnapped her sister Belle and arranged to give her up for adoption, selling her on the black market. John and Kristen finally became wise to her plan and caught Sami. They returned Belle to her parents. Shortly thereafter Belle's true paternity was revealed by Stephano with evidence from Sami's diary. Roman became so angry he divorced Marlena and left town.
Lucas And Sami Team Up
Sami's plans to catch Austin formed more fully when she met newcomer Lucas Roberts, whom she first saw when he was naked, having just made love to Charity, the rock star. Lucas desperately wanted Carrie's affections, and the two teamed together to break her and Austin up. In the meantime, Carrie wound up winning the Face of the 90's contest! She dreaded appearing on the cover of Bella with her scars, but Lucas Roberts, the son of Bella editor Kate Roberts, convinced her to go ahead with it. He told her that girls around the country would be inspired by her saga and inner beauty (please!). Lucas hired Brandee, a Bella model, to seduce Austin. Carrie saw the two of them kissing and broke up with Austin. Lucas was conveniently there to comfort Carrie while Sami got to spend some quality time with Austin. By December, Sami began to feel guilty. She didn't have to worry; the "Brandee" scheme unraveled by itself. Brandee was fired from Bella and sought revenge against Lucas. She told Carrie and Austin what she'd been hired to do -- and by whom. Sami backed Brandee's story, and Lucas was made out to be the bad guy. Carrie quickly turned her back on Lucas. However, she didn't reunite with Austin. She briefly dated Alan Harris, a 21-year old friend of Lucas' from military school. After a few short weeks, Carrie and Alan stopped dating and she finally got back together with Austin.
Carrie And Austin Make Love
Austin and Carrie slowly got into the groove of things. In the meantime, Carrie managed to forgive Lucas & Sami for plotting to ruin her relationship with Austin. Austin and Carrie finally made that special trip they'd planned a year earlier: a ski weekend at the Green Mountain Lodge during which they planned to make love for the first time. Everything seemed perfect, despite the fact that Lucas was looming in the background. But as Carrie and Austin began to get romantic, someone frantically knocked on the door. It was Jennifer Deveraux. Her mother's sanitarium was burning down and she needed Austin to take her to the airport. Austin obliged and an understanding Carrie awaited his return.
After some time, there was a knock at the door and Carrie assumed it was Austin. Instead, she was shocked to find a tall man clad in black, wearing a black ski mask. He forced his way into the room and attempted to rape Carrie. Luckily, Carrie's screams scared the stranger away and he escaped through the window.
Once again, Carrie and Austin's lovemaking was postponed. Although Carrie said that she was fine, the attempted rape had left her very shaken up. She cringed at the touch of any man. Austin vowed revenge against whoever had attacked Carrie. When he discovered that Lucas had been at the lodge that night, Austin beat him up. Carrie felt that Lucas was innocent and begged Austin to stop distrusting him. Meanwhile, Carrie got over her phobia towards men and finally made love to Austin.
The Promise Ring
After several months of Carrie and Austin growing closer, and Sami of course getting more and more hooked on Austin, Austin decided to take he and Carrie's relationship to another level. So he took her to The Cheatin Heart and gave her a Promise Ring, telling her that it was a promise that when they were ready that they would get engaged. Carrie said it meant they were "engaged to be engaged".
Kate Roberts
Carrie was asked to testify at Billie's (who was charged with murdering one Curtis Brown) trial. Lucas had confessed to the crime after suspicion had fallen on his mother Kate, and Carrie testified that Lucas indeed had been looking for Curtis Brown the night he was killed. Lucas was eventually set free, and so was Billie; the murderer had been Stefano DiMera. This trial revealed two things: Curtis Brown had been Austin's father, Curtis Reed (Austin and Billie had sworn to each other never to reveal this fact), and the possibility that Kate Roberts was their mother (she'd been married to Curtis and had had two children by him.) Kate refused to believe that Austin and Billie were her children. So Carrie showed Kate a brooch that Austin had given her, which he claimed had belonged to his mother. This helped Kate accept the fact that Austin and Billie were her children.
Evil Alan Harris
In the meantime, Sami was dating Alan Harris, who raped her. Ashamed and disgusted, Sami kept it a secret, but eventually told Lucas, Carrie and Austin. There was no physical evidence, so Carrie decided to wear a wire and extract a confession from Alan. Sami figured out that Carrie was at his apartment and went to rescue her. Alan tied up both girls and planned to leave Salem with them. Fortunately, Austin and Lucas burst into the apartment and saved the day.
Sami finally agreed to press rape and kidnapping charges against Alan. Unfortunately, things didn't exactly go her way and the case was dismissed. Sami became angry at Carrie for giving her the false hope of victory. Carrie encouraged Sami to continue with the kidnapping charges. At the hearing, Alan's lawyer badgered Carrie to the point that she made Sami sound like a liar. A mistrial was declared. Furthermore, the tabloid The Intruder published all the details about the hearing and humiliated Sami, who blamed Carrie for all of this and sought revenge. She devoted herself to winning Austin away from her and used her rape as bait. She continuously begged Austin to spend time with her because she was scared of Alan. Austin found himself with Sami whenever he tried to spend time with Carrie.
For a few months, Sami's plan worked. Eventually, however, Carrie began to suspect Sami of crying wolf. When Sami called Austin again wanting him to come see her, Carrie answered the phone and never gave him the message. Instead, Alan showed up brandishing a gun. Sami successfully pried the gun away from him and shot him in the groin. Although this seemed like a heroic way to fight back, Sami was crucified by The Intruder, which published the headline "Sami Brady Bobbittizes Alan Harris!" However, Alan got the last laugh. Before leaving Salem, he told Carrie she was right. Sami had been crying wolf the entire time. Unfortunately, Austin walked in just as Carrie slapped Sami and became so furious that they broke up again. The relationship between Austin and Carrie remained strained. While Carrie pined away for Austin, and vice-versa, Sami infected Austin's life by constantly spending time with him.
Sami Sleeps With Lucas and Austin Thinks It's Carrie
Sami was delighted that Austin and Carrie broke up. Sami tried to seduce Austin by wearing a negligée, but Austin blew her off. Depressed, Sami went to the Cheatin' Heart. There, she was harassed by some drunks but was saved by Lucas, who had also gone there to drown his sorrows. Together, they went back to the Countess Wilhelmina offices and slept together. While they were having sex, Austin peeked in and saw Carrie's shirt on a chair (Sami had been wearing it), and wrongly deduced that Carrie and Lucas were sleeping together. When Lucas told Sami that Austin saw them, Sami was overjoyed. Lucas wanted to tell Austin the truth, but Sami threatened to press charges of statutory rape against him if he did.
Sami Drugs Austin And Sleeps With Him
Sami had an interesting conversation with a Nurse Lynn Burke. Lynn mentioned a friend of hers who had used a drug called Validan to get a man to make love to her without remembering the next morning. Sly Sami stole Lynn's key to the pharmaceuticals room in the hospital and took a bottle of Validan. While Austin was out one night, Sami slipped the drug into his beer then waited for him at his apartment wearing a negligee and Carrie's perfume. Out-of-it Austin arrived home and made love to Sami thinking that she was Carrie. The next morning, Austin reacted with disgust and apologized to Sami, who had obviously enjoyed it. Sami told Austin that he had professed his love for her, but he said that wasn't true. He asked her to keep this a secret from Carrie. Sami was distraught, as she was sure Austin loved her and would want to be with her. Feeling so ashamed and hurt, Sami packed her bags, hugged Jamie goodbye and left Salem by train. Jamie rushed over to tell Austin and Carrie of Sami's leaving. Austin knew very well why Sami had left, but didn't tell Carrie. He packed a bag and rushed to the train station, where he learned Sami bought a one-way ticket to Los Angeles. Meanwhile, Carrie was in Austin's apartment with Jamie tiding up. When she fluffed his pillows, she found lipstick on it. Very angry with Austin for sleeping with another woman, Carrie also packed a bag and boarded the same train Austin was on, in order to confront him. They headed to LA to look for Sami and were also headed towards a big adventure.
Looking For Sami In LA
Desperate to find her sister, Carrie questioned Sami's best friend Jamie Caldwell. Jamie informed Carrie that Sami was headed to Los Angeles. So, Carrie went to Los Angeles along with Austin in search of Sami. After placing "Missing" posters all over Los Angeles, a man began to follow Carrie. This man, Tyrone Wallace, claimed that he worked for a runaway child organization and that he had a lead on Sami. Carrie trustingly went with Ty to look for Sami in a seedy part of Los Angeles, only to be imprisoned by Ty. Ty, who in reality was a pimp, wanted to turn Carrie into one of his prostitutes. Carrie tried to escape by hitting Ty over the head with a frying pan, but he subdued her. After some time, Ty grew angry with Carrie and decided to rape her. Just before doing so, Austin, who had been alerted to Carrie's danger by one of Ty's prostitutes, saved the day. Empty-handed, Carrie and Austin decided to return to Salem. As they were about to leave, Emily, the teenage prostitute that had helped Austin find Carrie, claimed that she'd seen Sami in LA However, the only one who could possibly help them find Sami was Ty, who had gone into hiding. To lure Ty out into the open, Carrie decided to dress up as a prostitute. It worked. Unfortunately, Ty was hell-bent on revenge and wanted to kill Carrie. Once again, Austin saved the day by capturing Ty and calling the police. Before Ty was sent to jail, he told Carrie that he had seen Sami some weeks prior, but she'd mentioned leaving Los Angeles. Carrie and Austin were going to stay in LA some more to search for Sami, but they were forced to return to Salem upon receiving the news that Kate Roberts had perished in an airplane crash.
Carrie and Austin approached Abe and asked him to help them track down Sami. After many months, Austin and Carrie managed to reunite. Austin found out it was all a big mistake and that Carrie hadn't slept with Lucas. Urged by a possessed Marlena, Carrie confronted Austin about the girl he slept with. Austin explained he had thought he was making love to her, as he had been drinking that night. Carrie said she didn't want to know who the girl was. Austin asked her if she was sure. Carrie acknowledged and said they should leave the past right there- in the past. Austin took out a beautiful ring, and proposed to Carrie. She accepted and they became engaged. She and Austin began planning a wedding which would take place in the summer. The wedding, however, seemed cursed. Their engagement party was halted by a vast swarm of bees. Though Carrie escaped unharmed, her grandfather Shawn was sent to the hospital with bee stings. Some time later, Carrie would come to realize that Marlena was possessed by the Devil, and the swarm of bees had been conjured up by her. After Marlena was exorcised, Carrie made her the matron of honor at her wedding. Marlena accepted on the grounds that if Sami returned, that she should be matron of honor, which Carrie agreed to. Despite all of this, Carrie still was worried about her wayward sister Sami. No one knew where she was.
Sami was living on the streets of Seattle, Washington with a friend named Ashley. Sami attempted to return to Salem, but when she arrived she saw Austin and Carrie kissing. Convinced that she had no life in Salem, she went back to Seattle. There, she discovered that private investigator was following her, and that Lucas had hired him. She decided leave Seattle by stealing a car, but she crashed it and went to the hospital. At the hospital, the doctors discovered something that Sami apparently pretty happy to hear. While recuperating, the owner of the car decided to press charges and Sami was arrested. With Ashley's help, Sami tried to escape the hospital inside a food cart, but was caught and sent to jail. There, she was informed that John Penetta, the owner of the vehicle, had decided to drop charges and that her bail had been paid. Sami and Ashley met her mystery benefactor when this person invited them to a scrumptious dinner at the finest hotel in Seattle. It was Vivian Alamain. For some reason, she had arranged for Sami to return to Salem in the morning. Devious Sami didn't want to wait and got her ticket changed for that very night, to Vivian's chagrin. After an emotional good-bye to Ashley, Sami flew home. She arrived just in time to witness Carrie's bachelorette party through a window. Jamie saw her and spoke with her, telling her that her entire family had been worried about her. Sami, however, decided not to make her appearance just yet; she wanted to ruin Carrie and Austin's wedding.
Austin and Carrie's Wedding
On the day of the wedding, as Carrie and Austin were saying their vows, Mickey Horton suddenly interrupted the ceremony, Sami in tow. After a joyful reunion, Carrie made Sami her maid of honor and the wedding began once again. As Sami was walking down the aisle, though, she fainted. She woke up asking about her baby -- Austin's baby! Mortified, Carrie realized that Sami had been the girl Austin had slept with. The wedding was off, and Sami'smiled. Mission accomplished.
The Almost Abortion
Sami tried to get Austin interested in her through her baby, unsuccessfully. So she manipulated Jamie into telling Austin that she was going to have an abortion. Sami went to the abortion clinic not really intending to get rid of the child. But the doctors there gave her some powerful drugs that knocked her out, so Sami was not awake to stop the abortion from taking place. Fortunately, Austin came rushing in and stopped the procedure.
Vivian Alamain
Sami focused on spending time with Austin. Her plans were almost ruined at "A Night of Magic", an event held at the Penthouse Grill. One of the persons in attendance was John Penetta. Sami convinced him to pretend not to know her. However, she heard him speak of a Sister Mary Vivian who looked exactly like Vivian Alamain. Sami figured out that Vivian hadn't just helped her in Seattle out of the goodness of her heart and blackmailed her into getting her a job at Titan. She used this job to keep an eye on Carrie and Austin. Sami and Lucas successfully kept the couple apart, for a while anyway.
Vivian got sick of being blackmailed by a little girl, and decided to ruin things for her. She arranged for Carrie and Austin to go to a conference at their special place, the Green Mountain Ski Lodge. Desperate to keep Austin and Carrie from making love, Sami stole Lucas' BMW and raced to the lodge. But the weather was bad and Sami wasn't a very good driver, so she crashed. She was unharmed. The incident did nothing to break up Carrie and Austin. Sami was alone.
Baby Will
One night, Sami became very melancholy. She returned to the old Brady home to seek comfort without telling anyone. She hoped Austin would become worried and come looking for her. In her old bedroom, Sami went into labor. However, she had no phone. Luckily, Austin and Carrie found her in time to call an ambulance. At the hospital, Sami suffered complications and had to have a caesarian. William Robert Reed was born on November 16, 1995 named after Austin's sister Billie and his late mother, Kate Roberts. Soon after his birth, Will was discovered to have a heart irregularity and was kept in an incubator for a week. It was touch and go for awhile and he was even given Last Rights. Soon, both mother and child were fine and returned home. She convinced Austin to let her stay with him because her grandfather Shawn had the chicken pox, which would be harmful to Will. But still, Austin made time for Carrie.
New Year's Eve
Carrie and Austin were wanting to work things out and agreed to meet on the rooftop of her apartment on midnight New Year's Eve. Sami heard this and reset the clock in Austin's apartment so he never showed. That same night while Lucas was passed out drunk in Carrie's apartment, Sami slipped a tab of Validan into Carrie's champagne. After Carrie passed out, Sami placed her in bed with Lucas and the two of them thought they'd slept together. After Austin found out about Carrie's infidelity, they broke up. Carrie began dating Lucas and Sami continued to scheme her way into Austin's life.
Kate Roberts Returns
Sami convinced Austin to let her move in with him. Now that he and Carrie had broken up, and Jonah was living with Wendy in a separate apartment, Austin had enough room for both Sami and their son. In January, Austin was shocked to find out that his mother, Kate Roberts, had not died at all. Kate had been living as a white slave aboard a Spanish freighter and had made her way back to Salem. Austin and Sami presented Kate with her grandson, and Kate reluctantly welcomed Sami into the family. In reality, Kate felt that Austin could only love Carrie and tried to bring them closer together by making them work together. Sami knew what Kate was up to and resented her for this. In turn, Kate discovered that there was a connection between Sami and Vivian and began to spy on her. Indeed, there was something going on between the two. Vivian was blackmailing Sami into posting her bail (Vivian had been arrested for Kate's attempted murder.) However, Sami didn't have to do this since Kate went ahead and bailed Vivian out. Soon after, Kate arranged for Vivian and Sami to be alone together and overheard them talking about the way they had broken up Austin and Carrie. Kate confronted them and told them that she'd tell Austin & Carrie about their devious plans. But when the time came, Sami and Vivian covered up their prior connection with numerous lies that both Austin and Carrie bought. Austin apologized to Sami for the way Kate had treated her and promised to provide her with a good life. Sami lived a delusional life with Austin. She felt that Will was the bond that would bring them together. This wouldn't last, however, because Kate started looking for ways to get Sami out of Austin's life.
Soon, a series of events began Sami's downfall. First, Kate began hounding Jamie, knowing that Jamie knew the truth about Sami. Kate had actually convinced Jamie to tell the truth, but Sami and Lucas convinced her to keep her mouth shut. Though she thought she was in the clear, Sami was now in a bigger mess. Nurse Lynn Burke returned to Salem to tell Austin everything. While in Chicago, Lynn had figured out that Sami had drugged Austin with Validan. She only returned now because she was out of a job; Kate had terminated the job Lynn had been doing in Chicago. Sami and Lucas struggled to keep Lynn quiet and gave her $10,000 to do so. Lynn was happy with her money...for a day. She quickly spent the dough at Salem Place in clothes and jewelry, and continued to blackmail Sami & Lucas. Lucas promised Lynn more money as soon as he turned 21 in July and was able to access his trust fund. Lynn thought that was too long to wait and decided to tell Kate all about Sami's actions. She figured that Kate would pay her nicely for her information. However, Kate lost her fortune right before Lynn told her (Victor had had a stroke and Vivian was still Mrs. Kiriakis), so there was nothing Lynn could get and stayed quiet. Sami & Lucas breathed easier for about two seconds, because soon Kate recovered her fortune! Sami and Lucas schemed to keep Lynn away from Kate by posting police guards outside of Victor's hospital room, where Kate was devoted to stay. Lynn outsmarted them by becoming Victor's personal nurse!
Suddenly: Sami Exposed
One fateful evening, Sami was blown out of the water. Lucas, Kate, Austin, Carrie, and Sami assembled in the Kiriakis living room, where Kate exposed Sami's lies. This time, she had proof. Lynn entered the room and announced the way that Sami had drugged Austin with Validan. When Sami tried to disprove Lynn, a guilty Jamie entered the room. She backed up Lynn's story. There was no way that Austin and Carrie could disbelieve the angelic Jamie. Carrie and Austin re-united on the rooftop of their apartment building in a romantic setting. They danced to the song Suddenly by Olivia Newton John and Cliff Richards. They made love under a beautiful romantic canopy on some silk pillows that Austin had set up. Meanwhile, Sami schemed to get them apart again.
Wedding Foiled Again As Will Is Kidnapped
After Kate exposed her, Sami got an apartment in a seedy building. Austin protested her move into such a bad neighborhood, but this was exactly what Sami wanted. She hoped that by putting herself and Will in a dangerous situation Austin would want her back. She staged various mishaps in her run-down apartment, and Austin cluelessly went to her rescue. In the meantime, Kate Roberts planned a pre-wedding honeymoon for Austin and Carrie, and sent them to Paris to get them away from Sami. Then Sami's neighbor, Mary Brook, kidnapped Wil1. Austin, Carrie and Sami tracked Mary and Will to Paris. When they finally found Mary, it was too late; she had already sold Will to a French couple.
Sami And Austin's Marriage Of Conveinence
Gerard and Michelle Bernard, gave Will back to the authorities. Despite this, all was not well. The French government refused to give Will back to a single mother! For Will's sake, Austin agreed to marry Sami in order to let the French think that Will would have a loving home environment stabilized by two parents. Sami was overjoyed at this but pretended to be doing it only for Will. They were married in Carrie and Austin's hotel room using Abe & Lexie's wedding bands. The entire event was captured on video to show Judge DeBont that it was real. Despite the videotaped wedding, Judge DeBont ordered two social service agents, Simone Berte and Claude Beauchamp, to keep an eye on Sami and Austin to make sure they'd married for love. In the meantime, Sami and Austin could not leave France with Will. Another judge, Judge DuBois, considered making the couple live in France for six months to make sure they loved each other. Although Sami was willing to make that "sacrifice," the judge ultimately chose to let Sami and Austin return to America.
As soon as they returned to Salem, Austin filed for an annullment just as Sami was afraid he would. She tried to hang on to Austin by seducing him at the Green Mountain Ski Lodge one weekend. But when Carrie walked into the room and saw Sami trying to seduce Austin, she hit her! Sami had Carrie arrested for assault and eventually attained a restraining order against Carrie which forced Carrie to stay at least 100 feet away from Sami and Will. Sami engineered all sorts of silly situations to have Austin be with Will, and thus unable to be with Carrie (because of the restraining order.) Then, Sami tried to move into the Kiriakis mansion with Vivian's help. Unfortunately, their plans failed. Soon, Kate began legal proceedings to have Vivian kicked out of the house, and custody of Will given to Austin. Desperate, Sami decided to blackmail Kate. She went to Kate's bedroom and rummaged through her things until she finally found something valuable inside the closet. In a white envelope, Sami discovered scandalous information that would make Kate a very hated woman. With this information, Sami convinced Kate to let her stay at the mansion and give her a job at Titan. For months, Sami thought of ridiculous ways to use her position at Titan and at the mansion to break up Austin and Carrie, to no avail.
Sami Gets Amnesia
On New Year's Eve, Sami discovered that Austin and Carrie were going away on a romantic getaway and decided to crash it by stealing Austin's car and going to their hotel. Instead of crashing the getaway, she crashed the car. When Austin went to the impound lot to pick up his car, Sami warned him that something had been wrong with the car and that's why she'd crashed. Austin refused to listen and began to drive away. However, the car unexpectedly went into reverse and backed into Sami. Sami ended being hit against a wall and fell into a coma. For an unbelievably long time, Sami did not recover. People rallied to her side to bring her out. When she finally woke up, she had amnesia. She believed that she was 16 years old. She began to remember the past four years of her life when she saw her son Will. She also remembered her wedding to Austin and believed they were happily married. In the end, Sami was released from the hospital. She had paralysis in her legs, but the doctors believed it to be temporary. At this time, Sami was also heartbroken over the fact that her father Roman died while on a mission for the ISA. Meanwhile, Sami moved in with Austin. Unbeknownst to her, Austin was only playing the faithful husband for fear that the truth would shock Sami back into a coma.
Mike Horton
Mike and Carrie Brady became re-acquainted once again. They became very good friends during the time that Austin was married to Sami Brady. Carrie encouraged Mike to pursue many of his dreams, such as buying an expensive sports car. Their friendship turned very close, and soon Mike was in love with Carrie. While ironing, a faulty iron electrocuted Sami and she regained her memory and use of her legs. However, she kept this miracle a secret. Only Lucas recognized that Sami was back to normal. He convinced her to keep quiet and feign amnesia so that they could break up Carrie and Austin once and for all. This time, the plan was to make Austin believe that Carrie was interested in Mike Horton because the two were rather chummy. Little did Mike or Carrie know that they were being manipulated by Sami and Lucas. They wanted Carrie to forget Austin and continued to get Mike and Carrie together whenever possible. Meanwhile, Kate discovered that Sami was faking her amnesia and threatened to tell. Sami, however, once again held the blackmail material over Kate's head. The envelope, which Kate had been unable to find while Sami had been in a coma, had been hidden inside of Sami's childhood doll, Molyanna. Sami once again used the blackmail information to slither her way into the Kiriakis mansion. While arguing with Kate one day, a photo fell from the blackmail envelope onto the floor. Victor, who was in a wheelchair, saw the photo and immediately had a stroke which left him comatose. The photo had been of Kate - she had been a prostitute sometime in her past.
Things were going fine, also, with the plan to make Austin believe Carrie and Mike were falling in love. But Sami received a horrifying shock one day when she discovered a mistake in Will's medical records. Upon further investigation, she realized that Lucas, not Austin, was Will's father! She snuck into the hospital records room room to change the blood types, but was caught by Carri and Mike. She had to explain how she could walk, saying she had a nightmare about Marlena, (who at the time was in the Secret Room of the DiMera Manison - but that's another story) and had hopped up out of bed to come looking for her.
Meanwhile, Roman turned up in Salem - he wasn't dead at all! However, he was dying of a synthetic virus he'd been infected with on a mission in the Middle East. Sami convinced her father that she and Austin were very much in love and engaged to be married; she also told him that Carrie and Mike were gushing with romance. Since Roman's condition was so delicate, no one could risk shocking Roman with the truth, so everyone played along with Sami's lie. By now, Austin was the only one who still believed Sami had amnesia; everyone else suspected otherwise. Even Eric, recently returned from Colorado, sensed that Sami was lying about one thing and covering up something else. At this time, Kate tried to tell Austin everything about Sami, but she pulled out another trump card from the blackmail envelope: proof that Kate had brought Franco Kelly to Salem to break up Bo and Hope Brady. Kate remained quiet for fear Austin and Billie would hate her as a result of her machinations. Sami kept quiet about Kate's past in order to continue to blackmail her.
Mike and Carrie journeyed to Los Angeles to a medical conference in order to find someone who could help them develop a cure for Roman. They didn't find any help at the conference; Mike only met his overbearing rival from college, Dr. Craig Wesley. Carrie, wanting to make Mike look good in front of Craig, pretended to be his girlfriend and was very passionate with him while they danced in the hotel's ballroom. . Although Mike enjoyed this, he knew that Carrie was just doing him a favor. After receiving information about a doctor that could help Roman, Carrie and Mike headed to the mountains to find him. On the way, Mike and Carrie were in a car accident. Carrie was hit on the head and was out cold and got a fever. While recovering in an abandoned tool shed, Carrie, in her delirium, dreamed Austin came to rescue her, and she kissed him in her dream. In reality she was kissing Mike. When Carrie awoke, thinking it was all the dream about Austin, she told Mike it was one of the most passionate kisses she had ever had. Mike admitted she kissed him and admitted his feelings to Carrie. Unfortunately, she didn't hear him because she'd fallen asleep. After being Mike's being attacked by a rattlesnake, they finally found the doctor who gave them a drug cocktail that would help Roman to stay strong until a cure could be found.
Austin called the hotel in LA a couple of times and was told by various people that Mike and Carrie seemed very much in love. So even though he had finally gotten his annullment from Sami, he despaired of ever being with Carrie. Sami told Austin she couldn't live with him if they weren't married so she took Will and forced Kate to let her live at the Kiriakis Mansion. Sami and Lucas placed a hidden speaker in Austin's room, so Austin would every so often hear Will's cries even though Will was not nearby. He also felt that by abandoning Sami and Will that he was being just like his evil father Curtis Reed. Out of guilt, Austin asked Sami to marry him.
While Sami was preparing for the wedding, Carrie called from the mountains. After a gloating Sami told Carrie about the wedding, Carrie and Mike raced home to stop the wedding. However, Austin, believing Carrie loved Mike, told Carrie it was over and he was going to marry Sami. Devastated, Carrie watched from the back of the church as Sami marched down the aisle.
In the mmeantime Eric voiced his concern to their father, Roman Brady, who fainted at the altar to give Eric and Carrie time to find out what Sami might be hiding. Carrie and Eric ran off to the hospital and begged Mike Horton to help them. After a little while, when Eric and Carrie didn't return, Roman walked Sami down the aisle.
Sami Exposed AGAIN
Unfortunately for Sami, Carrie and Eric uncovered the same disturbing information she had regarding Will's father, and Carrie put everything together, to unveil all of Sami's schemes and plans. In the meantime, Mike Horton and Eric were having trouble getting the security disc to print out the information so Carrie ran off to the church to stop the wedding. She yelled "No", running down the aisle toward Austin and Sami. In front of the entire church, Carrie put a stop to the wedding. Carrie then delievered the shot heard round the world, that Will was not Austin's son. Punching Sami in the jaw, she told Sami she would never get out of her way ever again.
.
Austin And Carrie's Official Wedding
Carrie ran out of the church and both Austin and Mike went after her. Austin found her first, apologized for trusting Sami when he should have trusted her. Carrie understood that he was trying to do what was best for Will. She told him she had been there for him during all that time because she loved him. Austin then proposed with Mike Horton looking on from behind some bushes on the other side of the yard waiting for Carrie's answer to Austin. Carrie said yes to Austin and Mike decided to set aside his feelings for Carrie. Carrie told Austin she wanted to marry him that very day. Her exact words were "People came here today for a wedding. So let's give them one." Later that day, Carrie and Austin were married in a wedding with all the trimmings, while Sami stood outside a window and tearfully watched the entire event. Sami snuck into the reception at Kate's house and ran in just in time to catch the bouquet. Carrie and Austin didn't let it phase them and went off to their wedding night blissfully happy.
The Wedding Night
John and Roman had arranged for a night at The Salem Inn for the newlyweds, before they left the next day for their honeymoon. They made love once before Sami called and interrupted them, saying Will was sick When Austin went to check on him, Sami acted as if he had returned for good and delayed his leaving, but ultimately couldn't keep him. At the same time, Mike accidentally dropped by. He had been called to the Inn for an elderly gentleman who was having some heart issues, and was on his way back as the man was fine. Mike accidentally, not knowing that Carrie and Austin were there, dropped his bag right in front of Carrie and Austin's room's door. When Austin returned, he saw Mike with Carrie's negligee in his hands. Austin remembered that Sami insisted that Carrie was in love with Mike, but instead Mike insisted that it was all very innocent. Carrie explained while he was there and that she asked him to keep her company while Austin was away, and that Mike had accidentally spilled some champagne on Carrie and was helping her dry her negligee. After Mike left, Austin and Carrie made love and enjoyed their wedding night. In the morning, Austin surprised Carrie with a honeymoon trip to Rome.
Honeymoon
After landing a job at the hospital, Sami lied to accept an invitation for Mike to attend a medical conference in Rome, where he would see Carrie. Kate found out about Sami's manipulation, but because of her blackmail material, she could do nothing to interfere. In Rome, Austin and Carrie had a storybook honeymoon. During a Renaissance-themed street fair, Austin wore a costume that was exactly the same as Mike's. When Carrie kissed the man she believed was Austin, she was shocked to find out her mistake. Mike, of course, was both thrilled and pained by the mistake.
Sami arrived in Rome and took a room next to Austin and Carrie's honeymoon suite. When she sneaked into the room to steal Carrie's diary in hopes of finding something about Mike in it, the newlyweds returned. Sami hid under the bed and listened to the couple make love. She became more determined than ever that she should be married to Austin. Dressed as a nun, Sami ran into Franco who was in Rome and recognized Sami. He blamed her blackmailing for Kate of losing Hope. Although intimidated by Franco's darker side, Sami agreed that if he helped her get Austin back, she would help him win back Hope.
The Lucas Controversy
After the he found out he was a daddy, Lucas tried to be a real father to Will. One day Sami saw Lucas spinning Will around and watched Lucas drop Will causing a bump on Will's head. Sami lied and told Austin that Lucas hit Will. Lucas's drinking problem progressed, which alarmed Austin. Carrie stood up for Lucas and reminded Austin of Sami's lies. Austin took Sami's side. This was really the beginning of the breakdown of Carrie and Austin's marriage.
Sami And Franco
Franco Kelly schemed his way into Sami's good graces by pretending to help her get Austin back. Sami's growing romance with Franco also disturbed Austin. Unknown to Austin, Franco was only using Sami to obtain his green card. Sami and Franco announced their engagement. On Sami and Franco's wedding day, Franco tried to kill Kate, who wanted to expose his true reason for marrying Sami. To protect his mother, Lucas shot Franco When Sami walked in and saw Franco dead, she fainted. A fast-thinking Kate wiped Lucas's prints off the gun and placed it in Sami's hand. Sami was charged with murder. Meanwhile, a drunken Lucas tried to escape with Will, but got into a serious car accident, which put Will into a coma for more than a month. Sami, who was unable to remember what happened the night Franco was killed, tried to keep Lucas from having custody of Will. She persuaded Austin and Carrie to act as the child's guardians.
Chief Mike
Mike struggled to hide his feelings for Carrie. He applied for the hospital's Chief of Staff (COS), a position. Carrie became his campaign manager, and set out to use her PR skills to get Mike the job. Craig also wanted. Craig picked up on the attraction between Mike and Carrie and, with his wife Nancy's help, launched a dirty campaign to smear Mike. In an effort to take his mind off Carrie, Mike pursued a romance with nurse Ali. The night before the announcement of the winner, Mike was on his way to a pre-announcement and last chance dinner, when he was stopped by a woman who needed help with her car. She told him she had no money and Mike took her to his hotel room to allow her to call. She drugged Mike and made it look like she had slept with him. Craig and Nancy had paid her to do so. When Mike was a no show at the dinner, everyone at the dinner went looking for him. When they found him in a room undressed with the appearance that he was drunk and had slept with someone. The administrators who were choosing the COS were not amused. Carrie and Marlena went out looking for and found the woman, and made her confess about the drugging to the hospital administrators. Eventually, Mike was named Chief Of Staff. Carrie was sure that he wouldn't get it, and when he told her, she was so happy she let her true feelings for Mike show and kissed him. Marlena saw this and Carrie told her that she and Mike both realized that there could be nothing between them. Craig and Nancy took jobs at the hospital, where they continued undermining Mike. Craig and Nancy manipulated the romance between Ali and Mike, which made Carrie jealous. Later, Ali applied for the position as head nurse in the same week that she slept with Mike.
Reunion: New Year's Eve
Sami and Lucas continued to try and convince Austin that Carrie had feelings for Mike. Though he listened, Austin was unwilling to accept it, and on New Year's Eve of 1999, arranged a surprise for Carrie. He set up a romantic evening on the roof. The couple danced, reminisced and made love.
Death Row For Sami
After being framed for her fiancee, Franco Kelly's, murder, Sami Brady was sentenced to death. However, Lucas Roberts was racked with guilt. He was the one who shot Franco. As much as he despised Sami, he didn't want to see his son's mother wrongfully executed. Sami escaped from prison and fled town with Austin, the only person who truly believed in her innocence. Sami and Austin "kidnapped" Sami's son, Will, and found shelter in a commune with an eccentric older woman named Tracey. Sami eventually turned herself in, but when Lucas won custody of Will -- thanks to a marriage of convenience to Nicole -- over Austin and Carrie, she went on the run again. Sami again kidnapped her son, but her father, Captain Roman Brady, convinced her to surrender. Unfortunately, Sami's latest breakout prompted the court system to move up her execution. Guilt ridden Lucas wanted to confess to the killing, but Kate persuaded him not to. Sami's execution day arrived and the governor denied her a last minute reprieve. It looked as though her life was over. As the last drug begins to drip into her veins, Lucas stormed through the doors and confessed to the murder. Unbeknownst to him, Kate has simultaneously convinced dying mobster Roberto Barelli to admit to the killing in exchange for her promise to take care of his family. Sami's life was spared, but the question of who killed Franco still lingered. The authorities believed Roberto's confession, but Sami had her doubts.
Carrie And Mike And A White Horse
After sharing the passionate kiss to celebrate his becoming COS, Carrie Reed and Mike Horton decided they should end their relationship because of Carrie's marriage. Feeling he and Carrie had no future together, Mike slept with Ali. In bed, Mike jokingly made pillow talk about Ali's attributes as future Head Nurse. Mike and Ali saw each other on a social basis, but Ali got possessive and Mike broke it off. Carrie turned to Mike because she felt neglected by Austin, who at the time was on the run with her sister, Sami. After Sami's ultimate release, Carrie and Mike took a road trip to Las Vegas for a medical conference. At the urging of the duplicitous Craig and Nancy, a jealous Ali followed Carrie and Mike to Las Vegas, where she was horrified to see them growing closer. Ali took pictures of the couple together and e-mailed them to Austin. Devastated that she lost Mike, she then slit her wrists in an attempt to get attention. Thankfully, Ali's mother rescued her before it was too late. Meanwhile a troubled Austin walked in on Carrie and Mike in bed. He punched Mike and told Carrie their marriage was over.
Meanwhile, Nurse Ali filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Mike, putting his position as Chief of Staff in jeopardy. Ali won a three million dollar settlement and Mike left Salem for a few months. Austin divorced Carrie and started seeing Sami. Mike returned for Carrie and and the two of them got engaged and the two of them rode off together into the sunset on a White Horse.
Austin And Greta/Sami And Brandon
With Carrie out of the way, Austin was free to be with Sami. But Austin disapproved of Sami using her typically underhanded tactics to get custody of her son Will, so Sami found a new ally and friend in Brandon Walker, who offered to take the low road with her, if necessary, to get her son back away from the child's father Lucas. Princess Greta Von Amberg made friends with Austin and the two seemed to be getting close. He helped her through a moral test in a Virtual Garden Of Eden in order to take her crown. He was there with Greta the night she was crowned and there was an assasination attempt where Sami's bravery made he and Sami close again. He realized he couldn't stay with Greta because of Sami and Will and he went back to Salem

When Theo was born, Lexie confessed about Brandon to Abe who understood. She knew that a jealous Sami might try to change the blood types if she thought Brandon was the father.
